Émilie Trahan offers an exploration of quilting from a contemporary perspective, where this traditional art form takes on a modern approach and becomes a true medium for expression and creativity.
At the heart of this workshop, she introduces the full range of possibilities opened up by improvisation in quilting. Participants discover the improvisation process, including its challenges as well as its many benefits, along with tools to encourage creativity in their work.
The workshop also covers the use of reclaimed fabrics (upcycling), techniques for improvised curved piecing, and organic quilt construction using curves, allowing participants to move beyond traditional grid-based structures (off the grid).
Participants practice assembling curves and engage in a series of improvisation exercises. The objectives are simple: enjoyment and freedom.
