Ulla Hoppe

Ulla Hoppe was born into a very creative world: she learned to sew, knit and crochet with her mother. Form and color were passed on to her by her grandmother Omimi. She began embroidering at the age of five.A day spent without a needle and thread? There’s something missing.

There are usually stories hidden in Ulla Hoppe’s work that need to be found, like the mouse, her heraldic animal. It is her heart’s desire that embroidery does not die out. She has created portraits of animals and people, sometimes almost frighteningly natural, then again completely abstract, but always at the highest technical level and with an almost endless creativity.
