Ashelyn Downs offers a workshop designed for participants with advanced beginner to intermediate piecing skills. Participants learn tips and strategies for creating successful projects while exploring the concept of “piecing with purpose,” using intentional fabric choices rather than scraps, an approach often associated with improv quilting. Guided by their fabric selections, they are encouraged to let improv quilting lead the way in creating a unique throw-sized quilt. The workshop also teaches how to translate traditional piecing skills into enlarged block designs and highlights the importance of a balanced fabric selection, supported by a comprehensive preparation guide sent by email beforehand. Participants leave feeling empowered to work from their fabric stash, create beautiful pieces, and confidently enhance their collections through intentional curation.
