Dawn Heese is an author, pattern designer, Marcus Fabrics designer, and award-winning quilter. A fourth-generation quilter, she was introduced to stitching at a young age, shaping a lifelong passion for handwork and traditional techniques.Her career in the quilting industry began with the publication of her first book, Geese in the Rose Garden (Kansas City Star, 2009). The following year, she founded Linen Closet Designs, named after her grandmother’s linen closet filled with treasured vintage quilts. Through her company, Dawn creates quilt patterns as well as designs for punch needle, cross stitch, and rug hooking, in addition to developing fabric collections.Her work is regularly featured in quilting magazines both in the United States and internationally. Dawn teaches workshops and presents trunk shows across the U.S. and in France, where she enjoys sharing her love of appliqué and quilting with a wider audience. She is the author of nine books, including three with Quiltmania, and frequently collaborates with fellow designer Bonnie Sullivan. Together, they co-created Made by Hand, an annual membership celebrating traditional handwork across multiple disciplines. Dawn lives in Missouri. She is the mother of two grown sons and grandmother to one grandson.
