Guldusi

The Afghan embroidery program Guldusi continues to thrive thanks to the active solidarity of a broad European network that values the quality and expressive power of these embroideries.

This sustained commitment now enables more than 250 embroiderers in Afghanistan to support their families while preserving a threatened craft tradition. For us, as European textile artists, acknowledging and sustaining this work over time is a gesture of respect between equals.

Our engagement expresses a desire to build bridges between cultures, to weave meaningful connections, and to uphold a sense of sisterhood grounded in mutual respect and transmission.

The exhibition unfolds as both a retrospective and the presentation of a new work created especially for this event. Reflecting the diversity of the ten artists involved, the works on display explore a wide range of textile expressions—from hand stitching to machine processes, from surface to volume—inviting visitors to an experience that is committed, multifaceted, and full of discovery.
