Concours international Carrefour 2026

In September, visitors to the Carrefour will get an exclusive first look at the International Contest exhibition, showcasing 30 quilts selected from entries worldwide. The award ceremony, open to the public, will take place on Friday, September 18 at 2:30 PM at the Pavillon Osmont in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, honoring the most outstanding works.

Each year, a new theme inspires quilters, who have several months to create their pieces before the jury selects the finalists in spring. After the Carrefour, these quilts will embark on a journey through galleries, museums, and major international quilt shows.

Discover Habitat, an exhibition bringing together 30 quilts selected by jurors Brenda Gael Smith, Sophie Zaugg, and Teresa Duryea Wong.

Thirty powerful, contemporary works that showcase the vitality of today’s quilt art.

Through bold approaches, nuanced compositions, and distinctive textile voices, these quilts explore what it means to inhabit the world today. Urban spaces, intimate refuges, fragile territories, and imagined landscapes all become material for creation.

Thread questions, structures, and connects; the surface becomes a space for commitment and expression. With Habitat, the quilt asserts itself more than ever as an artistic medium capable of challenging and reshaping our relationship to the world.
