Lilia Jimenez offers an introduction to the textile art of the Otomi people, who have been renowned for their craftsmanship since pre-Hispanic times. Due to economic challenges, entire communities such as Tenango de Doria have devoted themselves to embroidering floral and animal motifs—both real and imaginary—that are now admired worldwide but often imitated. In this workshop, participants learn the basic stitches while also gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of the people and cultures behind these creations.
