Émilie Trahan is a Quebec-based textile artist whose practice centers on improvised quilting. Her work emphasizes the upcycling of everyday textiles (sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths, clothing, etc.), echoing the origins of patchwork.
Through this connection with the past and with the very fabric of our lives, she seeks to reveal her intuitions of the intangible, immaterial world—the one hidden behind our sensory perceptions.
Her abstract language is expressed through intertwining curves and organic forms. Quilts, like poems, sketching the fibers of our universe.
