Quilt en Rêve

  • Traditional quilts
  • Europe

Quilt en Rêve is a group of French and Dutch friends who have been working together for over twenty years.

United by a shared focus on 19th-century quilts, they have turned this enduring theme into their signature. What might seem like a ritual has become a source of constant exploration within textile heritage and its endless variations.

Perfectionist artists in search of harmony and beauty, they favor handwork. Their technical precision reflects exceptional craftsmanship and a deep understanding of tradition.

While remaining faithful to the codes of traditional quilts, each artist interprets them through her own sensibility. From this balance between historical accuracy and personal expression emerges a body of work that is cohesive, vibrant, and timeless.

The new collection by Quilt en Rêve once again highlights the originality and diversity of their work, consistently inspired by the 19th century. In their ongoing search for exceptional quilts, the artists demonstrate remarkable mastery of traditional vocabulary. Each piece reflects patience, dedication, and extraordinary precision. Among the highlights is an impressive military quilt composed of 27,126 hexagons measuring just one centimeter on each side—nearly five years of meticulous work. A striking appliqué on a black background stands alongside a range of pieced designs such as Triple Irish Chain, Flying Geese, and Mariner’s Compass. Colors burst with intensity, while the delicacy of the Crazy quilts and the freshness of the boutis introduce nuance and contrast. Together, these works form a remarkable array of quilts in which tradition, virtuosity, and attention to detail unite in a rich and captivating display.
