Since 1991, Kristel Salgarollo has been teaching and practicing patchwork in Belgium and abroad. A long-standing contributor to Les Éditions de Saxe, notably for Magic Patch and Quilt Country, she has developed a rich and distinctive artistic universe over the years. She has built an impressive collection of quilts entirely of her own design, with a particular love for large quilts composed of small pieces, mini quilts, and cushions. Her style—traditional, modern, and vibrant—stands out through meticulous hand quilting, revealing patience, precision, and a deep passion for detail. Visitors to Carrefour may remember her 2022 exhibition of mini quilts at Villa Burrus, which delighted audiences.
Ellen Remijnse, for her part, has nurtured a passion for creating since childhood. She began quilting at the age of ten and soon turned this passion into a professional venture by founding her pattern company, Ellie’s Quiltplace, while studying History at the University of Antwerp. Inspired by antique quilt blocks such as Log Cabin, Nine Patch, and Sawtooth Star, she reinterprets tradition with a fresh perspective, incorporating appliqué and subtle variations in form to create unique, distinctly contemporary quilts.
In 2015, she co-founded EQP Textiles with her husband Philippe. Drawing on her love of antique quilts and her academic background in history, she designs traditionally inspired prints in bright, harmonious color palettes intended to mix effortlessly. Her fabrics and patterns are distributed worldwide. She also publishes with Les Éditions de Saxe and teaches internationally.
Today, these two Belgian quilters join forces for a meticulously crafted exhibition where handwork, a love of fabric, and reimagined tradition come together with creativity and refinement.
