German quilter Clara Stoikow worked as an architect in Berlin until 2015. When her husband’s career took the family abroad, she moved first to St. Petersburg, Russia, then in 2020 to New York, USA, before returning to Berlin in 2024. During these years abroad, quilting gradually became central to her life and practice. What began as a creative counterbalance evolved into a fully developed artistic pursuit. Her work is defined by precise craftsmanship, a confident exploration of color and form, and a constant curiosity for new techniques. Architectural thinking subtly informs her compositions—structure, rhythm, and spatial relationships play a vital role in her quilts. Clara’s work has been exhibited regularly in juried shows and has received several awards, reflecting both technical excellence and a distinctive artistic voice shaped by movement, memory, and place.
