Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and born in Glasgow, Scotland, Annabel Pattullo is a freelance artist and community artist. She studied art and design, with a focus on printed textiles, in Aberdeen, Scotland, and in Enschede, the Netherlands. Her main passions are painting, photography, and textile printing. She combines different techniques in her textile collages, using drawing, painting, and photography, as well as various sewing techniques. She works with patterns and paints directly onto fabric, using, for example, monochrome and splashes of color, then overlays this background with appliqué stitching and layers of fabric. She draws inspiration from childhood memories, dreams, and also from her journey from Aberdeen to Germany, with several detours. Since 2001, she has been living in Freiburg, Germany; from 2008 to 2010, she lived in Istanbul, Turkey. She also incorporates texts she writes herself into her work. She seeks to approach her subjects with tenderness: absence, joy, desire, and more.
